Adelaide, South Australia

In honour of Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen, queen consort to King William IV, Adelaide City was founded in 1836 as the planned capital for a freely-settled British province in Australia.

One of Adelaide's founding fathers, Colonel William Light, designed Adelaide, choosing the location close to the River Torrens. The lands are owned by the Kaurna people

The State's rich heritage continued into the 1840s, with German and English settlers building their lives around cultivation of the land and small mining expeditions.

  • Adelaide has something for everyone. It doesn't matter which season you choose to visit, Adelaide has a fantastic climate and the very best Australia has to offer.
  • The lifestyle in Adelaide is exceptional. Combining the finest food & wine, internationally renowned events, shopping, art and a bustling night scene - it's no wonder Adelaide has been ranked the world's fifth most liveable city twice in a row.
  • Furthermore, South Australia is fast becoming the innovation hub of the nation. With labour costs 10% below the Australian average, competitive CBD office space and an enormous investment in technology infrastructure, Adelaide is ideal for start ups.
